Hi Leslie!

I have only used Wacom tablets so far, but I can give you some pointers anyways. Let me know what sofware you use for painting.

Thanks!

Hello Markus,

I have researched it and the reviews are a bit mixed. Some people find it to be a good entry level tablet, because of its low price. It looks like the pen works with a battery (as opposed to the battery-less pen of the Wacom models) and the pressure sensitivity and accuracy of the pen might not be as accurate of the Wacom's. But all in all, if your budget does not afford you to get a Wacom tablet of the same size, this could be a reasonable choice.

Hi Roberto,
I have a Wacom CTF 221 (221/K).
It's a nice tablet, but the only problem i have is drawing with a still hand. With a normal pen and paper i don't have alot of problems with that, can even draw a pretty straight line, but on the Wacom my lines get all messy.
Is this just that i have got to shaky hands, or the way i handle my pen or something?

P.s. i use Adobe Photoshop CS.

Lars: Mhhh... this could be a problem with the drivers or the pen itself. Does the cursor shake slightly even when you hold the pen steady?

Another idea: If the pen produces shaky lines when you draw long sweeping lines maybe your pc is too slow to register the entire movement smoothly. When using Photoshop, enable the "smoothing" option in the current brush settings.

I suspect some kind of problem with the drivers though. mhhh....

Hi Robert!

That's some work you got there!

Anyway, i'm thinking about buying a cheaper model of a wacom tablet by the reason that i've never used a tablet before.

But what i wanted to ask you is: does the size of the tablet matter? Is it easier to draw with a bigger tablet?

Jonhathan: Thanks to you my friend.

Robin: Hello Robin! I had a large tablet for several years (Wacom Intuos 2 9x12) and was happy with it. About 2 months ago I had to buy a new tablet, because my old one died.. so I went for a smaller one: Intuos 3 6x8 and I have to say I am happier with this smaller one actually. It takes less effort to draw now, and I don't have to move my arm as much as before. In my tutorial on how to choose the right tablet (look in my Photoshop Tutorials section) I go in more detail about the pros and cons on tablet size. I'd say go for a Graphire 6x8. I bought mine on amazon after researching for the best prices around. Check the link on my tablet tutorial.

Hope this helps!

Roberto

your drawing rocks thanks for the advice

I bought the trust tablet TB-4200 and it has excatly the shake you discribe on the 13th of july. It comes with a mouse which is as steady as a rock.

The shake is a lot about the same as moving the tip 0.5mm or 1/50th of an inch. to be fair to trust they have sent me a new pen but that has made no differance.

I really hope you can help me thanks

Hello from Russia! Thank you, Roberto! You are very nice digital illustrator! There are several of your tutorials translated in Russian. I'd like to have just a part of your technique but it's probably too hard for me. We in Russia are waiting for your new tutorials and works, because they are always great!
